Writing Coach Eric Wyatt Talks to Group

Author and writing educator Eric Sheridan Wyatt spoke at the May 3 meeting of the Sarasota Fiction Writers about “Making the Most of Your Writing Efforts.”

“Writing is a solitary art,” Wyatt said. “But the great paradox of creative writing is that we benefit greatly when we have access to the right kinds of support, encouragement and accountability.”

“Making the Most of Your Writing Efforts” focused on the ways writers can find support from others (whether a critique group, creativity coach, book doctor, professor or editor for hire) to help take their writing to the next level.

Wyatt discussed opportunities writers have to continue to mature in their craft and how to best utilize various support structures to their creative advantage.

His short fiction has appeared in Silk Road Review, Saw Palm, Ruminate, New Plains Review, Eunoia Review and The First Line, among others. His collection, “Five Stories,” features the first five published stories of his early writing career. His nonfiction writing has been included in various anthologies, including “Letters to Me: Conversations with a Younger Self.”

Wyatt teaches fiction, creative nonfiction and literature courses through adult and continuing education programs in Sarasota and Bradenton. He offers creative writing services to private clients through his business, Words Matter Creative Writing Instruction.
